For many people, boundaries don’t feel natural.
They feel:
• Harsh
• Selfish
• Uncomfortable
So instead, you:
• Say yes when you mean no
• Overextend
• Carry more than you should
And then wonder why you feel exhausted.
Why Boundaries Feel So Hard
If you’re used to being:
• The responsible one
• The supportive one
• The one others rely on
Then boundaries can feel like letting people down.
But boundaries aren’t rejection.
They’re clarity.
What Boundaries Actually Do
Healthy boundaries:
• Protect your energy
• Create honest relationships
• Reduce resentment
They don’t push people away.
They allow connection to be real.
How to Start (Without Overthinking It)
1. Keep It Simple
“I’m not able to do that right now.”
No long explanation needed.
2. Expect Discomfort
Not because it’s wrong—but because it’s new.
3. Stay Consistent
Boundaries only work when they’re maintained.
4. Release the Guilt
Guilt doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
Sometimes it means you’re doing something different.
You Are Allowed to Take Up Space
You don’t have to earn rest.
Or justify your limits.
You’re allowed to have boundaries—simply because you’re human.
